In other news, if you don't want Lawrence Frank as the coach for New Jersey, visit my other site firefrank.com and post your comments! I hope everyone enjoys their summer and returns safely in the fall, for what I hope to be, the strongest push New Jersey has made for a ring thus far.
Season Over; Carter Has Surgery..
By G_MoNeY on 04/23/08 at 01:54 PM

Well, the Nets missed the playoffs unfortunately; but for many of you who watched this year -- you can't say you are shocked. Jason Kidd's trade saga hindered the Nets chemistry all year, that's no question, but the fight the Nets played with after the trade was courageous. VC stepped up and became the "leader" of the team, both vocally and with his play. People are quick to point out the drop in VC's numbers this year, many are unaware just how serious his ankle injury was; but he kept on playing. Today showed the seriousness of this injury, surgery was performed and a success. Carter will be on crutches for several weeks and will be ready to play come October. MVP type season? We'll see...
VCO Update
By G_MoNeY on 03/26/08 at 11:00 AM

Sorry for the lack of updates, been busy.. VC has risen to the challenge and has taken the leadership role, once held by Jason Kidd, in stride. He's nearly reaching his career average in scoring. That being said, NJ is still 1/2 a game out of the playoffs for 8th seed, currently held by Atlanta. NJ's next few games will be crucial to whether they make it or not. The players have said numerous times they are shooting for the playoffs, but some fans question whether or not to "tank" the rest of the season and increase their chances of a better draft pick. Either way, I'll be excited to attend this Friday's game versus Indiana -- and you better believe Frank will hear my comments from a mile away! Firefrank.com!
Is VC Next?
By G_MoNeY on 02/20/08 at 07:54 AM

As you can see, Kidd has been dealt to Dallas for Devin Harris, fillers and 2 first round picks. Many think VC could be dealt before the 3PM deadline on Thursday. Indiana, New York, Denver have been rumored destinations, none of which really make any sense. It does make sense for NJ to deal Carter because Kidd is now gone, they're in a "retooling" phase right now and VCs contract makes it difficult for them to manuever. NJ could also re-evaluate the VC situation in the offseason and see how this current team plays the rest of the year. When asked if the delay in the Kidd trade hampered any other deals Thorn was working on, he suggested it delayed "one" other deal. Wonder what that is? Wait and see....
Nets win 3 in a row
By G_MoNeY on 02/13/08 at 06:56 AM

If only they could play like this all season long. The Nets were a different team the past 3 games, not so much last night versus Minnesota, but they got the W anyways. VC had played his best back-to-back games of the season before last night's win versus the T'Wolves. The cortizone shot he received has helped his ankle tremendously and you can tell watching his movement on the court. VC pulled off a 360 2-handed dunk last night, showing Magic Johnson he can still do it. Tonight will be the last game before the All-Star break, VC will have 1 whole week to rest his ankle and get geared up for the 2nd half of the season. Don't miss the game tonight, it should be a good one, across the border in Toronto.
VC Shines, Nets Lose...
By G_MoNeY on 02/06/08 at 11:47 AM

Arguably VC's best game of the season, which included a monster dunk of DJ Mbenga - the Nets still managed to lose to the Lakers. VC scored 27 points, but for the most part defensively held Kobe to his season-low 6 points on 3-13 shooting. Pau Gasol, in his first game with the Lakers chipped in with 24 points and 12 rebounds; but the key to this game was the play of Derek Fisher, who scored 28 points. Kidd's defense is obviously not what it used to be, but his play overall is still felt each game, despite trade demands and rumors. NJ continues to be complacent on the trade front, willing to accept this team is not going to compete for a title. One minor move was made, the Nets sent Jason Collins to Memphis for Stromile Swift.
Losing streak continues...
By G_MoNeY on 01/28/08 at 08:33 AM

And the streak continues... NJ has now lost 9 in a row, including their worst loss of the season last night to the worst team in the league, the Minnesota Timberwolves. Blew a 7 point lead with 1 minute to go! Inexcusable and embarassing. It's never been any more clearer that a change needs to be made. Frank NEEDS to be fired. Kidd has demanded a trade (although he denies this) NJ management is granting him his wish and he'll be dealt before the February 21st deadline. Why does NJ management continue to support a coach who has no idea how to adapt to an opposing coaches gameplan, create his own gameplan (a gameplan that's flawed in the first place) and his love affair with Jason Collins reached its "climax" last night.
Lost 5 in a row
By G_MoNeY on 01/21/08 at 11:11 AM

The Nets have lost 5 in a row, and look like the team they did before their winning streak. Inconsistencies still plague the team, personally I think the blame falls mostly on Lawrence Frank, but management seems to differ. Some type of move needs to be made, whether it be the coach, or a player before the trading deadline. Something to jumpstart this team and get them playing where they should be. Rumors are starting to arise that have VC being dealt to Indiana for JO, who recently said he may sit out the rest of the year to rest his knee. I think RJ needs to be dealt because VC can do things that RJ can't and does the things better that RJ can already do. Is it possible to deal RJ + fillers for Shaq or Pau Gasol? Stay tuned...
7-1 in Last 8 games
By G_MoNeY on 01/07/08 at 09:04 AM

Ever since Lawrence Frank has made the change in the frontcourt, opting for Sean Williams and Josh Boone, the Nets have won 6 in a row, and 7 of their last 8 games. Many fans have preached to media outlets that a change needed to be made, moving Jason Collins out of the starting lineup and going with a younger, more athletic group -- the results have been glaring. No longer are the Nets playing 3 or 4 on 5 versus opponents but with the two young players in the starting 5, the Nets team has become much more dynamic and harder to guard. New Jersey's next game is Tuesday night versus Charlotte. Should Frank still be fired? Post your thoughts on firefrank.com
Nets Update (9-10 Record)
By G_MoNeY on 12/07/07 at 07:37 AM

Since the last update, the Nets have gone 0-5 without Carter before he returned vs Portland; where they won 3 in a row, coincidence? I don't think so..VC makes everyone's job so much easier when he's on the court; drawing double-teams, taking pressure off of RJ, and finding the open man. New Jersey's record is currently 9-10, and as of yesterday, have survived the speculation that Kidd sat out last game as some sort of ploy to get an extension on his contract or wants traded. Kidd addressed the media and stated he was indeed ill with a migraine versus the Knicks. Dec 15th deadline is fastly approaching where many players can be traded that were signed in the offseason, we'll see what happens.
VC Injured, Grade 1 Mild Sprain
By G_MoNeY on 11/12/07 at 05:34 PM

VC was injured in the 3rd quarter of the game Saturday night. He drove to the basket and dunked the ball, while landing he stepped on Paul Pierce's foot and twisted his ankle. The Nets went on to lose the game 112-101, VC immediately had x-rays taken (which were negative) Today, a MRI revealed the mild sprain and VC is out for tonight's game versus New Orleans. The Nets have failed to take advantage of their favorable schedule to start the year and will head out on a road-trip after tonight's game. VC may miss Wednesday's game at Boston, as well. Stay tuned for further updates.
3-1 Start, VC continues to Struggle
By G_MoNeY on 11/07/07 at 09:42 AM

The good news is the Nets are off to a 3-1 start, their best start since 2002-03 season where they started 4-0. The bad news for VC fans, is he continues to struggle shooting the ball. He's shooting 32.7% through the first 4 games and only averaging 15.3PPG. The new offense implemented by Lawrence Frank seems to involve more motion and multiple players touching the ball on each possession. Advantages to this scheme are; less-predictable plays (see: Iso for VC) and it's hard for opposing defenses to guard. Main point, expect VC to sacrifice some PPG in the long run, in order for his team to advance further in the playoffs. Which in turn, could mean a less fatigued VC come playoff-time. Sounds good to me.
Nets/Raptors Tonight!
By G_MoNeY on 11/02/07 at 07:32 AM

One game down, 81 to go, at least for the regular season. NJ pulled out a hard fought OT win versus Chicago to open the season. VC struggled shooting from the field, but found other ways to contribute. Tonight it's a rematch of last year's 1st round playoff. Toronto may be out for revenge, but NJ knows how crucial it is to start out the season strong. Expect VC to have a much better outing regardless. This will be a fun game to watch, be sure to tune in! NJ also heads to Philly tomorrow night on a back-to-back to face a young Sixers team, 3-0 would be great -- don't you think?
VCO v2 Launch!
By G_MoNeY on 10/21/07 at 06:40 PM

The 2007-08 season is right around the corner, preseason games are underway and VCO v2 has officially been launched. New website, new forums -- with the same quality environment and of course the best VC highlights on the net! New Jersey has made quite a few moves this offseason, quite possibly the deepest bench the team has had since it's Finals runs a few years back. WIth the additions of Jamaal Magloire, Malik Allen, Darrell Armstrong, Sean Williams and the experience gained by players such as Bostjan Nachbar and Antoine Wright -- many people believe NJ will once again solidify their status atop the Atlantic division and contend for a title. It's going to be an exciting season, ARE YOU READY!?
